Sonja Henie Ice Revues

In 1936, after winning her third gold medal, Sonja Henie "retired" from amateur competition and began her career as an actress. At the same time, she began exhibition skating, building her own business around ice revues which would tour the country. These were very popular from the late 1930s through the mid 1950s. The programs for some of the ice revues are presented below. I've scanned the inside of some of them and included them here. Most are very similar inside, so I've just included a small, representative sampling.

Additional programs here are from the Center Theater productions in the 1940s. In 1940, Sonja Henie and Arthur M. Wirtz formed a business venture to convert the Center theater for figure skating productions. First of these productions was "It Happens on Ice," which ran for 746 performances. Next was "Stars on Ice" (830 performances), "Hats Off to Ice" (889 performances), "Icetime" (405 performances), "Icetime of 1941" (421 performances) and "Howdy Mr. Ice" (405 performances). Sonja did not skate in these shows.
