Synopsis In her first feature film, skating champion Sonja Henie brings a "sweet demeanor, engaging personality," and "abundance of pulse" (Variety) to the role of a young Swiss woman who dreams of winning a gold medal for her father. When the leader (Adolphe Menjou) of a traveling theatrical troupe observes Greta Muller (Henie) on the ice, he is dazzled by her brilliance. Immediately sensing a fortune to be made, he hustles her off to star in a skating exhibition, unaware it will end her Olympic dream by changing her amateur status. But a visiting American news reporter (Don Ameche) who adores the pretty skater, rushes off to stop them before it's too late. With the comedic Ritz Brothers for laughs, lavish musical numbers and spectacular ice ballets, Henie's screen debut is pure entertainment. [from Fox Video videotape sleeve, ©1993] |
